WHAT

The Leadership 360 is a personalized reflection tool created through self-assessment and feedback from your colleagues and partners, for a multifaceted perspective of your Leadership Competencies. We gather input from you and the people you select through an online survey comprised of multiple-choice and open-ended questions, and that feedback is compiled into a confidential and individualized report. (See an example report here.) As part of the program, you will also receive two one-hour virtual sessions with an executive coach to carefully review your results, understand possible implications, and formulate a plan for growing in your leadership.

WHY

A comprehensive 360-degree evaluation helps you understand and develop your leadership. Taking dedicated time to complete a self-assessment offers a valuable opportunity for high-level reflection, while feedback from your staff, Board members, and external partners provides invaluable outside perspectives. The Leadership 360 process can reveal aspects of your strengths as a leader, along with challenges and opportunities to grow, that you may not otherwise have learned.

WHO

The Leadership 360 will be most meaningful for you if:

  • You are the senior-most leader in your Jewish nonprofit organization, whether your title is CEO, President, Executive Director, or something else
  • You have not completed a Leadership 360 in 2 years OR you have been in a new role for at least 1 year
  • You expect to have at least 5 respondents who are employees internal to your organization and 5 more respondents from your Board and external partners

While you may not fully meet one of these criteria, if you believe that the Leadership 360 assessment could offer value to you, we invite you to contact our Leadership Programs team to explore the possibilities: leadprograms@leadingedge.org.

FAQs

What format is the Leadership 360 in?

The Leadership 360 is a personalized reflection tool created through self-assessment and survey feedback from your colleagues and partners, for a multifaceted perspective of your Leadership Competencies. The final report compares your self-assessment and ratings from colleagues, your Board, and external partners, as well as compiling open-ended comments.

This tool has been designed in-house by Leading Edge to align with the specific needs of the Jewish nonprofit sector. This tool is not available elsewhere.

How will I participate in the Leadership 360 process?

You will:

  • attend an orientation call;
  • invite respondents to complete the Leadership 360 survey about you;
  • complete a self-assessment;
  • meet with your executive coach;
  • attend optional peer discussion calls.

The Leading Edge team will be here to answer questions every step of the way.

Is the Leadership 360 a performance review?

Our Leadership 360 is a tool for self-reflection and is not meant to be any kind of test or performance review. The Leadership 360 is for you, not a third party, and we will not publish or share your results with your Board or anyone else besides you and your assigned coach.

Who do you share the Leadership 360 report with?

Besides Leading Edge staff, only you and your assigned coach will be sent the final report. From there, you are welcome to share it with anyone else you like, or to keep it confidential.

How is confidentiality maintained?

We maintain confidentiality for CEOs by only sharing their reports with them and their assigned coaches. Coaches will keep the specifics of what is discussed in coaching sessions confidential, only sharing high-level themes with the Leading Edge staff.

We maintain confidentiality for respondents by averaging their scores into categories that are only broken out if there are three or more respondents in a given category. Open-ended responses are presented anonymously and in random order. The specific list of those who have completed the survey is not shared with the CEO.

Data is processed and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

What if the respondents are not familiar with all aspects of my leadership?

Respondents don’t have to be familiar with every aspect of your leadership and work to give helpful feedback. We have a “not observed” option that lets respondents skip any questions that they don’t have enough information to answer.

What can I expect during the coaching session?

You will be matched with one of Leading Edge’s coaches who is familiar with the Leadership 360 and experienced in the Jewish nonprofit sector. You will have two hour-long sessions of virtual coaching. Coaches will keep the specifics of what is discussed in coaching sessions confidential, only sharing high-level themes with the Leading Edge staff.

What can I expect during the virtual peer sessions?

These optional sessions, hosted by Leading Edge, offer an additional modality for reflection alongside your coaching. Each includes time for self-reflection on your 360 via a guided tool, followed by breakout discussions with peers. You should have had at least one session with your coach to debrief your 360 beforehand. You’re welcome to join one, both, or neither session.
